Flashback to Pregnancy

I recently came across a few pics of my pregnancy days.  After making it past the initial period of all day long nausea, I absolutely loved being pregnant.  I thought I  would record some memories of pregnancy here so Ella could one day read about what life was like when  she was a precious fetus!

I can't say I had horrible morning sickness by any means, but I did have a steady flow of nausea which ended like clockwork around the end of the first trimester.  I never did throw up, just had that steady feeling of queasiness that seemed to last from sunup to sundown.   It was a good thing I was off work for the summer, so I could basically lie on the couch all day.  No strange food cravings, but many food dislikes.  I hated the smell and taste of red onions; I was repulsed by the mere presence of them.  I couldn't tolerate vegetables, and ate very few my first trimester.  My big thing during the first 12 weeks was fast food, which I NEVER normally eat!  I couldn't get enough of it.  John would have to make frequent pickups for me during lunch or on the way home from work.  Sorry Ella.

We did have a brief scare the day I started my second trimester.  We were at the doc's office for an ultrasound, when I started gushing blood. No, not spotting like they say you might, but gushing.  Of course I freaked out, even though the ultrasound showed nothing wrong.  I bleed for about 3 days and then it stopped.  Thinking it was just a scare, I resumed life as normal, and then, a week later it happened again!  I couldn't believe it!  Again, everything checked out fine, but doctors could offer us no explanation.  We ended up missing my dear friend Carrie's wedding, but needed to be cautious.  The bleeding never happened after that, and it was smooth sailing from then on.   I basically refrained from all physical activities until the 3rd trimester, but once I made it there, I started doing regular prenatal yoga.  The stretching was great, and I think it relaxed Ella too!

Ella was very active in the womb,  always kicking and rolling around.  She had tons of energy as she does now. These energy spurts usually occurred at night, making it hard to sleep sometimes.  I had always been a back sleeper, so between learning to sleep on my side, and enduring punches and kicks, sleep wasn't always the greatest.

I worked through most of my pregnancy, and I think this is kept me feeling physically and emotionally good.  Being with the 6th graders was a lot of fun. They enjoyed talking about Ella and couldn't wait to meet her!  I think all the talking that took place in the classroom made Ella very used to noise.  This is great because she can sleep through mostly anything now!

Ella, I had a fun time being pregnant with you!
