12 Weeks Old

I can't believe my little baby is turned 12 weeks this past Sunday! The time is escaping us way too quickly.  Although I feel sad that the time is passing so very quickly, it is also such a joy to watch Ella grow and learn new things at such a fast rate.  By now, she has become quite the talker.  It is great to hear her discovering her own voice and to watch her experiment with new sounds each day.  It is rare to find her without a smile on her face.  What a happy and calm baby she is! She is also partially obsessed with her hands. She is now aware of them and has been grabbing and touching objects and faces. I also observed her clasping her hands together a couple of days ago!  Some days, it seems like her hands are in her mouth for hours.  I have been told by a handful of people now that this, combined with her bubble blowing and slobbering, could be a sign of early teething.  We will see!

New Accomplishments This Week:

  • Strong head and back ~ she is almost holding it up completely by herself
  •   Almost rolling over ~ about 3/4ths of the way there.
  •   5 hours of sleep a night ~the average since about 2 weeks.  The last couple of weeks she has pulled a couple 7 hour nights and one 8 hour night.  These long stretches aren't consistent yet, but hopefully right around the corner.
  •  We have also been putting her down around 8:30 to 9:00!
  •   Clasping hands
  • Touching and grabbing at objects and faces
