Mother's Helper
Ella loves to help out and receive praise for her good deeds. The newest task she assists with is her diaper changing. Most recently, she had been screaming and arching her back at the beginning of the diaper changes. After speaking with Grandma Stinson, who puts the changing pad on the ground during changes, and discovering that Ella was actually laying down independently for the task at hand, I thought maybe I should change the diaper changing pad location. So, after moving it to the ground, I now have an assistant during changes. I tell Ella it's time to change your diaper, and upon hearing that, she holds my hand, walks back to her room with me, and with a bit of encouragement, lays her body down on the changing pad! Oh yes, and she grabs a book to read during the changing. Some days take a bit more encouragement than others, but all diaper changing is now a peaceful experience free of screaming and arching.
