3 Weeks Old

Ella is officially 3 weeks and 1 day old today!  She is growing fast; literally changing right before our eyes.  Her little eyelashes are now quite visible.  They are quite long like her daddy's lashes.  Thank goodness she didn't inherit my short little stubby ones! She is staying awake for longer periods and is exploring with her eyes more than ever.  It is nice to have her awake and not crying demanding food.  She is a smart, extremely strong, and an aware little baby!

It appear that last week's fussiness and non-stop feeding sessions were the result of a growth spurt.  She seems to be going back to feeding every 3 hours or so, with 4-5 hour sleep sessions at night. During the growth spurt, she actually slept for a 6 hour period two nights in a row!

We have discovered that car rides put her to sleep within minutes of pulling out of the driveway.  Thank goodness for this.  We went to dinner for the first time on Saturday night.  She was really fussy but immediately calmed down once in the car.  She woke up right when we entered the restaurant, which greatly concerned me.  I imagined her screams filling the restaurant and annoying all the customers, but John thought we should give it a try.  Well, amazingly, she settled almost instantly and allowed us to enjoy a wonderful dinner that lasted a good couple of hours.
